Move Away From Muesli

When offered muesli style diets there is a potential risk that guinea pigs may select the high starch and sugary components of the food, leaving the higher fibre pieces. This is called selective feeding and can cause an unbalanced diet. Selective feeding may increase the risk of dental disease, obesity and other health problems.

Ingredients:

Composition: Grass Meal, Wholegrain Wheat, Dried Lucerne, Wholegrain Maize, Soya Bean Hulls*, Oatfeed, Soya Bean Meal Feed Dehulled*, Dried Peas, Wheat Feed, Dried Beet Pulp, Yeast (Brewer’s Yeast and Grains), Minerals, Soya Oil*, Short Chain Fructo-Oligosaccharides ( Prebiotic FOS 0.25%), Dried Blackcurrant (0.1%), Dried Oregano (0.06%) *Produced from genetically modified soya

Directions:

Remember that good quality hay and/or grass should make up the majority of your guinea pigs’ diet and should be available at all times. Guinea Pigs should also be fed a small amount of leafy greens each day. Please talk to your vet for further information. If you are currently feeding a muesli style food to your guinea pigs, consider gradually transfer them onto a hay and nugget based feeding plan over a period of between 14 and 28 days, by gradually reducing the amount of muesli and increasing the proportion of nuggets until they have completely replaced the mix. Always ensure fresh clean water is available for your guinea pigs.
